Here on The “Best Beer?” Column I will be trying out all the Beers I can find and reporting back my findings.

So Budvar, The original Budweiser was first brewed in 1785 in what is now called the Czech republic. After many court cases between the American Budweiser and the Czech Budweiser all is now calm. Both company’s are allowed to use the name.

Budvar comes in a 500ml bottle, a concept which I have always been a fan of, having the beer in a bottle undoubtedly keep a fresher taste and having 500ml will keep the can fans happy.

Great Taste off it, not the weak pisswater that is the American Budweiser, this stuff is proper beer. It is very drinkable stuff, however its is a little sharp for the first half a bottle, but once you settle into it you’ll be set for the night. Not the cheapest beer in town but it is worth the extra few pence. Have a few till you loose your sence of taste, then get on to the cheap gut-rot if you must.

Its not the most widely stocked beer but well worth a look if you are in a well stocked pub. In fact it is a fairly good measure of a bar if they stock it, you can go by the rule: “If its got Budvar, its Wunderbar!”

Or Not. Please yourself.
